Teacher Bio

My interest in music began at an early age, with a curiosity about Mozart and Beethoven. At around the age of nine, I wanted to be part of my older brother’s garage band, so I picked up the guitar and we were involved in local festivals, shows and Toronto ‘Battle of the Bands’ events. While attending a performing arts high school, I discovered jazz and fell in love with it. I was fortunate to be a part of the Jazz FM Youth Big Band, which introduced me to a lot of like-minded young musicians. At the suggestion of Anthony Fung, Toronto drummer extraordinaire, I auditioned for the Berklee Summer Jazz Workshop with Terri Lyne Carrington. This eventually led to me being accepted as an undergrad. After graduating from Berklee in 2016, I became heavily involved in the Toronto music scene,  accompanying world-class artists and vocalists such as Justin Nozuka, Joanna Majoko, Dayna Stephens and Jesse Ryan, to name a few. I pride myself on my command of the instrument and my musical sensitivity. With Justin Nozuka, I also had the opportunity to tour extensively throughout Europe, the United States and Canada.
